 Using ion implantation to manufacture the I-Plant Iodine-125 seed, Implant Sciences’ patented “dry” manufacturing process uses no wet chemical fabrication. The seed cores can be safely inventoried in large quantities. Once “activated,” cores are then sealed in a titanium capsule (see Figure 1). This “Just-in-Time” method of manufacturing ensures prompt delivery of a time-sensitive product.In addition to reliable delivery, this unique manufacturing process produces a more consistent and reliable seed. Each seed shows greater consistency, as well as less dose drop-off at the ends (see Figure 2). This results in a more uniform dose distribution around the entire seed. MED-TEC is proud to be the exclusive distributor of this next-generation Iodine-125 seed for the treatment of prostate cancer. |
