IMRT requires extremely accurate target localization as margins decrease and dose escalates: steep dose falloff at the field edge is a particular IMRT advantage. Exact target localization must always be assured. pReference IMRT employs ACCULOC® implanted fiducial technology to provide submillimeter localization accuracy for all setups. |

| A pair of electronic portal images is imported by ISOLOC™ software running on the portal imaging workstation. ISOLOC inputs the gold marker and target coordinates from the imaging study and treatment planning computer, respectively, and displays the EPID images. The user registers implanted fiducial locations by clicking, and ISOLOC immediately outputs the target location and couch moves required to align the target to the isocenter. |
