Matrix intra-oral is a patented shielding material designed to protect healthy tissue within the oral cavity while allowing therapy to the exact treatment field. It can be used to construct intra-oral shields commonly used in radiotherapy Properties:
- Becomes moldable at 108 to 138 degrees F.
- Shields can be constructed on dental plaster casts.
- Rigid-set material allows exact placement during course of treatment.
- Linear attenuation is approximately 1/3 that of lead.
- Can be disinfected between treatments with glutaraldehyde spray.
Features:
- Homogenous blend of non-toxic bismuth and thermoplastic. (Thermoplastic material without bismuth is available for backscatter absorption.)
- Available in 12x12x1.3cm, 12x12x1.6cm, and 8x8x1.2cm blocks or in plastic syringes.
- Protects sensitive oral tissue within the oral cavity.
- Lessens probability of infection, decay of teeth, loss of salivary function, mucositis, and loss of taste.
- Decreases patient discomfort.
- Bio-compatible Matrix retains oral anatomical detail.
- Shields can be constructed quickly – within 20 minutes.
- Precise treatment without “excessive cone down.”
- Protects oral extraction and periodontal trauma sites
