 MED-TEC’s exclusive V-H Patient Transfer system provides an easy method for transferring a patient – positioned in a custom-molded vacuum cushion or other patient positioning device – between imaging, surgery, or treatment tables. It features two components: the tilting gurney – which allows you the option of setting up the patient in a “vertical” position and then rotating him or her to a horizontal position – and the transfer cassette.Here’s how it works:
The patient steps onto the tilting gurney in the vertical position (if desired) and settles into an optional pre-made Vac-Lok™ “mold” – which is indexed and locked down onto the transfer cassette – or is positioned directly on the V-H cassette top. After rotating the patient/cassette into the horizontal position, the entire device is rolled next to the imaging, surgery, or treatment table/couch, which is pre-positioned to the same height. (Note: tables/couches must have IPPS™ Indexed Patient Positioning Systems indexing features.*) |
 The transfer cassette carrying the patient slides easily onto the table/couch and locks into place. Following the procedure on that table, the patient – still positioned on the transfer cassette – is pulled back onto the V-H gurney. The V-H Transfer device can then either be rotated back to a vertical position so that the patient can step off, or the device can be wheeled into another room and the patient moved onto another table/couch. This allows you to move the patient – while accurately and consistently “positioned,” and immobilized, if desired – from one couch/table to another while maintaing known geometry between modalities or procedures.
Being able to transfer a patient from one table to another – from one procedure to another – in the same precise “position,” saves time, allows for image fusion, and helps ensure accurate target localization and treatment delivery.
