departments are often used for radiotherapy applications. These CT scanners are generally equipped with concave cradles. To overcome the problems caused by the difference
in geometry between concave cradles and flat simulator or linear accelerator couch tops, Sinmed has been the first to develop a removable carbon fiber CT couch top. It
simply locks onto the original CT couch with a clamping mechanism and can be removed at anytime.The Sinmed carbon fiber CT couch tops are made of low density foam, covered
with thin layers of carbon fiber. This construction is very rigid and lightweight, so the CT top can be handled easily by one person. Because of the low absorption of the
materials used, the Sinmed carbon fiber CT couch top does not influence the quality of the CT images.
